My Influenced Literacy-RanDarius Cooley
The person that has influenced my literacy positvely would be my mother. I would say mother has influenced my literacy in numerous ways such as, her reading to me and her reading to me, and we reading together. Though out elementary school and high school we have worked together to improve my reading and speech ability. One of my favorite books was Green Eggs & Ham.(Green Eggs and Ham is one of Seuss's "Beginner Books", written in a very simple vocabulary for beginning readers). While attending high school she helped me develop and phonomenial learning ability. My literacy has improved with her making me pronuce word correctly and if I did not say words correctly she would pop me on the hand another place everytime I pronuced a word incorrectly. After those experiences I started to say some word correct, but when I was not around my mother I said words how I wanted to say them. She really has influence me because if I have a interview I have a totally different talk. My accent sounds formal and very educated. I would say that she has infulenced me positive and not negative. I would say that I have influenced my own self negatively because they way I change when I am not around my family members.

This is such an endearing story about how your mother taught you to read. Your examples of Green Eggs and Ham and your mom popping your hands when you mispronounced a word give color and vividness to your narrative.
ReplyDeletei think that this is a very good example of how people change when they are around certain people. such as your job interview, you changed to your professional and formal voice. although around your family you speak differently. and mostly everybody does that around family.-- jordyn riddle
