To begin with, a person who influenced me on my literacy the most was my 9th grade teacher. The reason is because when I was in her class she never let me speak with incorrect grammer. Her name was Ms. Liz Michaels, a English teacher at Kate Griffin Jr. High School. Every day, at the begining of class, she made us write a quick write and we had to read it in front of the class. She always told me I was a great writter, but I will slip up and make simple mistakes sometimes. So I practiced writting wen had free time, on some days. As the end of the school year approached I was realizing that my writting and speaking was improving. Now a days, I really apreciate this teacher for gettin on to me every mistake I made while writting and speaking. It was like a situation with this teacher that you must learn how to speak and write before you move on. She was very serious about it. She even made everyone write poems and stories. I wrote a poem, which was published. In my opinion, this poem wasnt really the best, but I guess it was good enough because it was published. I personally think I could have done better because I love to put words together that ryhm and have a rythme to them as they are being read.
Ms. Michaels was the best teacher I had before this point. I have been working on talking to professional people and listening to them speak so I will know wat it sound like to speak the correct way. So far I'm doing good picking up on the accent and the grammar usage of it. Hopefully sooner or later, I will be at the point where I'm a good speaker.
