My Influences-- Jeffery Jernagin
My influence from writing came from all the assigned papers I made C's and D's on in high school. Once I made barely passing grades I persauded myself to write better. I would always be the last one in class with the teacher asking for writing techniques that I could use for papers. Usually I would just give up when I see a paper that I thought I did well on and I really didnt it's kind of frustrating. Teachers would always tell me I have a problem with making my papers long enough for a passing grade. I would always use about four to five sentences per paragraph and high school papers only have five paragraphs. As a high schooler I had many grammar and punctuation problems. I sometimes would never have enough information to provide in paragraphs for good grades. When I think back on the problems I've had all it took was a little bit more time and effort for better grades. My teachers use to tell me if my handwriting wasn't neat they weren't going to grade it and give me a zero. I know I don't have the best handwriting in the world but back then I think it was acceptable. In high school papers my teacher would always tell me my papers were way to short. I couldnt manage to come up with a B or higher in any of my papers because of my handwriting. In high school I've had one teacher all my life who would actually take my papers and throw them away but I wouldn't write them over. I think I have influenced myself to not rush myself as much and come up with proper senteces in every paper I write now.

ReplyDeleteI also had a teacher that helped me on my writing skills. I feel like when a teacher always on you, then they feel that you have a chance or that they see something in you. My ninth grade was the one that stayed on me the most so I guess she seen more in me than I seen in myself. I sense that your teacher was one that took the time out to see did you understand it. You should be happy that you had a teacher that really cared about you and your education.
