My Experience- Rikevia Wells

My tenth grade English teacher shaped my views of writing. Her name was Mrs. Holliman. She was the best English teacher at our school. She made writing come so easy to me. I love how she explained the concept of writing. I remember this one paper we had to write,it had to be three pages. So I wrote my story and gave it to her. I was expecting to get top three, or to pass my paper. When she gave me back my paper I had fail and it had a note on it, it said"you didn't punctuate correctly and I had alot of other careless mistakes.'' So, of course I was mad, but she gave me my paper back and told me I could rewrite it. I did that, and when she gave my second paper back it had a note on it that said,'' You took your time and you made sure you went over before turning it in." That to me said she really cared about her students, and took her job seriously. I also loved how she explained her work even if it was writing or grammar, she always made a good connection with her students. She made sure we understood also. She really motivated us and made sure we had our writing on point. I think everybody should have a teacher like Mrs. Holliman. She will make sure you get the job done and help you in the long run. I think she really made it easy for me especially now that I am in college now. I know I still may mess or not type a paper right, but all I got to do is remember her methods and what she tought me. I know in the long my paper will only get better and better. Thats the teacher who shaped my writing skills.

  1. I also had a teacher to shape my writing skills, and i agree everybody should have a teacher that cares. when a teacher has a failure rate of 98 percent of their students that is a reflection on that teacher, and their teaching skills. the fact that your teacher made sure you and your class mates understood was a very good thing. i also heard you mention how your teacher gave you a second chance to write the paper, i think she did that not only to be nice but to tell you that she knew you could do better then what you did.
