One life lesson I have learn this summer has been to never follow behind anyone's foot steps. If one were to follow in behind someone else footsteps that were not leading them in the right direction, one could get in a lot of trouble. Being a leader is so much better than just trying to be someone else. Being something that you are not is not being true to yourself. Everyone should create their own path and just act the way that made them the way they are today. Just because your friend or anyone else is doing something a certain way does not mean a person should try to copy them. If people can not accept a person for who they are then that certain person should either find something to pass the time or find a new set of friends. Preferably, the new set of friends will accept the person for who they really are and will not make the person change their image.
When I came up to campus in June, I noticed a lot of different stuff that was not there when I was in high school and living in Meridian. Students were dressing differently, speaking a lot more, and had more friends than I did at the time. I thought to myself, "I am really going to have to change my whole outlook to fit in around here." I was wrong. Everyone was very accepting to the fact that I was raised completely different from others and talked differently from them. It should not matter what kind of clothes a person is wearing or what kind of vehicle a person is driving at the time. What really counts is what is in the inside of a person's heart. The first impression can go along way with anyone.
