The reason why in enrolled in this Summer Developmental Program, was because i did not meet the standard of this University. I am extremely glad that i came because it gives me the chance to do what i did not get done in High School. Most colleges do not give the students chance to prove if they can handle the college level school work, and am happy i get to perform and prove that i can do it. After graduating in year 2010 and being away from school for 1 year , it was more challenging to remember all that i learned from high school, so i hired a tutor to always stay on track.
Having a 1 on 1 tutor is a little different than having a lot of people in 1 class, and that requires concentration and devotion in your classwork and homework. This program consist of English, Reading , and Math the three things that very much help you in the college life. I scored high on my Math score for the accuplacer exam and got just under 10 points away for both Reading and English parts of the exam . I am looking forward to require the skills i need by the end of the program and be able to move on at Mississippi State University.
I also did not have the grades to be accepted on the spot beacause of my low GPA and not pleasing SAT, but the good thing that comes out of this is me having a clean slate and no more excuses on why i couldnt pass this program. To pass this exam you will have to remove all distraction, focus on your goal, and know the reason why you came here. I did not come here to party or to make friends at this point but just to make the grades and move on in the fall and that, i will accomplish.
The other reason i am participating in this program is because it teaches me my responsibilities as a college student. I will also get a head start at the college life and how things operate. Also i will learn how to organize myself and live a diffrent life that i would have lived at home. Teaches me to be responsible young man that people would be proud to be around.
Larry i agree with you 100 percent, cause i graduated in 2010 and its hard to sit out a hole year then come in to a college and try to remember everything that you learned the year before. So i was also placed in this program for my ACT school, and we both need to have that mind frame that we are willing to do anything to pass ths program,so we can be back here in the fall.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you, Larry, about having a clean slate. I've had some regrets about my grades in the past and have been thankful for the same opportunity. I can tell you're trying hard so far. Just keep that up, and I think you will find the hard work pays off.
