Speaking Differently-Rodney Winters

There are many reasons why everyone speaks differently. Most of everyone's speaking method begins with their family members or their race. Another reason is being around people that speaks differently from them and inheriting their accent. For example, I have family from Louisianna who speak different from my family here in Mississippi. And my family members from Chicago talk more proper than us. People from the south have been talking with improper grammer for years. Whereas people from the north have been speaking with proper grammer for a long time. When children from the south hear their parents talk they immediately take in their accent or speech patterns. The parents may use slang before they use the proper word. For example, they may use dad instead of father. And that child will speak exactly like the people that raised them.

When a person move to another state they may inherit the accent of that particular state. That person must have to live there at least a year to learn the speaking patterns of that state. But they may not learn the new accent to perfection. It's not possible to learn a new speech pattern from northerners to perfection, unless you were born there and moved. I've learned many speech patterns since I been at Mississippi State. But I can't immitate all the different speech patterns because I'm not from that specific state.

The final reason is someone has a difficulty pronouncing words or a speech problem. That particular person may have a lisp and talk with a northern accent. In contrast another person may have the same problem, but have a southern accent. People can have many speech problems and that can cause them to speak different. I can witness to my cousin she has difficulty saying words that start with the letters T and S. She's from Louisianna, and she sound so funny saying the word Taken. In addition, she drags her words to an extent of them sounding like long vowel sounds. If we could trades places I would love to have her accent. And that'll also be different.

  1. I agree because it do start at home and different people from different states do speak diffidently. Just as u said a child would speak exactly like the people that raised them. As well as with if a person go to another state if you are not from that state you would find it different from the way you talk cause they also have different ways of talking as well

  2. It definately starts at home because it spreads around and everyone gets use to it. It is a great way to meet new people and experience new things. the reason being, is because your boss might be a different race and you will need to cmmunicate with her.
