I think a real big reason we speak so differently is where we grow up. I grew up in Noxubee County and the people down there are so country and speak so fast. Once moving to Columbus I realized that alot of people spoke more proper than I did. They pronounced the whole words and you were able to understand them. I on the other hand was so country and spoke so fast. I had to learn to slow down so that people could understand me...
I think texting has alot to do with how we speak also. You see alot of my friends usually talk how they text, which is improper english. One thing that I noticed about college was the diferent cultures we have. There are alot of people I have seen that speak a different language. For some reason I find that very interesting. Even my friends that stay in the dorm with me talk very funny to me, Like for example my friend Alicia she is very country, I love to here her talk. Sometimes I even copy her. Larry and Ronald are from up north. Larry is very proper you can tell he is not from the South. Ronald is also proper, but he speak very fast. Sometimes you have to tell him to repeat what he say just to understand him. Last but not least is my buddy Trermaine(T-Will). He is from Natchez and yes a very Southern boy in deed. He remind me of the black cowboy and are very country. Now I thought I could not understand Ronald, but T-Will I just dont understand anything he say.

ReplyDeleteMan...... You do not tell me to repeat what i say girl but i agree what you say texting do play a big part in people language and oh yeah i do not talk proper i talk regular #ohkay!!!!-Ronald
ReplyDeleteNikeiva i totally agree with you. It is about what enviroment every one was brought up around. And my room mate Alicia is very country as well as Tremain but its cute though, i also like to hear them speak. As far as Ronald and Larry go, they use different vocabulary from us, because they are from else where, thats how i know its all about what enviroment you are raised in. <---Robin Davis
ReplyDeleteNikeiva I understand where you are coming from, most people are very proper and some are country but all the words mean the same thing, I dont think im that country as Trermaine and Ronald but we do all talk in different ways. <----- ALICIA BENNETT
